We are delighted that Ultan Technologies and the SEAI have been shortlisted for the Public Sector Project of the Year in the Tech Excellence Awards.
The national Tech Excellence Awards are Ireland’s principal badge of honour in the IT industry. Now in its 17th year, this Awards programme recognises excellence not only in implementing tech solutions, but also in the business of marketing and implementing technology for business.
The Public Sector Project of the Year award recognises an outstanding application of enterprise-level technology in the public sector and may be awarded for a distinct project or projects, or for overall excellence in demonstrating the part which IT plays in delivering the organisation’s objectives.
The Ultan Technologies / SEAI entry features the SEAI M&R project. This project’s technology is built upon Ultan Technologies’ product, SensorCIS. SensorCIS is a system that extracts the required information from the Public Sector bodies and presents it in a way that encourages people to increase their efforts to achieve greater energy efficiency.
Some highlights for the project:
- 97% of public bodies in Ireland are using the system
- 2,110 schools in Ireland are using the system
- 2,442 GWh primary energy savings encouraged, tracked and publicised in 2015
- Public Bodies are now cooperating by sharing details of the energy efficient projects
- 548,000 tonnes of CO2 savings encouraged, tracked and publicised
- In 2015, public bodies avoided energy use equating to €154,000,000. This again was encouraged, tracked and publicised through the SensorCIS platform.
SensorCIS is an important energy management and reporting tool that helps public bodies in Ireland improve their energy efficiency.
For the SEAI, the SensorCIS M&R system has been very useful in giving a strategic perspective to its energy efficiency goals and it provides all the necessary energy data in one location which helps to visualise and communicate both progress to date and targets still to achieve. Public Bodies have a tool which they can use to analyse and report on their energy efficiency performance. They can see how they are reaching their own goals and they can compare how they are doing with their peers. Members of the general public can also use the tool.
Ultan Technologies & the SEAI were shortlisted based on its description of the business requirements of the project as defined by SEAI, the technical background, deployment steps and challenges that were overcome, and tangible evidence of goals achieved, improvements in efficiency, and cost savings.
Presentation of the Awards will be held in the Citywest Hotel on the night of May 18th.
